112

I led the mask team and programmed the light board for our first show, 112. I personally made six Varaform masks and oversaw the creation of six more.

A clay positive of an animal mask
Each mask begins with a clay positive…
A layer of thermoplastic Varaform over the clay
Then a layer of thermoplastic Varaform…
Papier-mâché over the Varaform
Then papier-mâché…
The mask being painted
Then two coats of white paint, four coats of UV paint and one coat of black paint…
The finished mask
Finally you add the foam padding and elastic and they are ready to wear! Each takes about 15 hours to make!
